On July 1st, the first domestically produced commercial vehicle with a longitudinal 8-speed automatic transmission (referred to as "longitudinal 8-speed automatic transmission") was unveiled at a ceremony. In the factory of Shengrui Transmission Co., Ltd., music plays and the red silk is unveiled. The newly unveiled longitudinal 8-speed automatic transmission is shaped like a silver solid horn, with a slimmer and longer appearance than the "front wheel drive 8-speed automatic transmission" (referred to as the "transverse 8-speed automatic transmission") previously used by Shengrui for passenger cars, and has a higher nominal torque. It is reported that this is China's first independently developed commercial vehicle longitudinal 8AT, filling the market gap in the domestic light commercial vehicle market and marking its official entry into the industrialization stage.
The vertical 8AT retains the economic, comfort, and reliability advantages of horizontal products, inheriting the characteristics of high integration, intelligence, and automation. It also uses the most advanced technologies in the industry, such as low leakage solenoid valves, high-efficiency blade pumps, and low-noise gear processes. It adopts new materials such as high-performance friction materials, resulting in higher transmission efficiency and shorter shifting response time. The product's noise, shifting quality, reliability, and other indicators have reached the world's advanced level.
Su Chengyun, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of Shengrui Transmission Company, introduced that the longitudinal automatic transmissions used in light and heavy commercial vehicles on the market are all produced by foreign manufacturers, and the technology is monopolized by several giants from Germany, Japan, the United States and other countries. This commercial vehicle longitudinal 8AT is the first 8-speed automatic transmission in China that can be equipped with pickup trucks, light trucks, VAN vehicles and other series of commercial vehicles. Shengrui has completely independent intellectual property rights, breaking the monopoly in this field, filling the domestic gap, and successfully obtaining dozens of invention patents. This product is widely used and can be matched with gasoline engines and diesel engines. In addition to pickup trucks and light trucks, it is also suitable for medium-sized buses, large off-road vehicles, SUVs, MPVs and other models.
The principle and structure of vertically mounted 8AT are different from horizontally mounted products, and it is used in commercial vehicles with complex application scenarios and varying speed requirements. It is necessary to configure the appropriate transmission ratio according to the vehicle's power and economic needs. In order to find a good solution, the R&D personnel conducted various calculations, analyses, arrangements and combinations, repeated trial production, experimentation, and testing. The R&D process lasted for nearly 3 years and finally succeeded. Replacing imports with vertical 8AT not only provides the market with more cost-effective products, but also makes the domestic commercial vehicle industry chain more independent. Shengrui Transmission entered the field of automatic transmissions in 2007, and in 2014, its world's first "front wheel drive 8-speed automatic transmission (8AT)" product was officially launched for sale. In 2017, the research and industrialization project of front wheel drive 8-speed automatic transmission (8AT) won the "National Science and Technology Progress First Prize" in 2016.
